7th april:
Seems like i go out almost everyday when i'm suppose to work! hahaha
at about 11 in the morning, I went with sander and mum(grace) to the saturday market.
First stop Fish Monger, tried a raw herring, tastes like those whole tunas in a can, But it's GOODER! haha!!
powerfull stuff! warm thin crispy waffle with a caramel centre! if i focused on the waffle and not look around the market(i love markets loads! especially going to experience a new one) i swear that i'll cum in my pants! totally orgasmic!
THE CHEESE GUYS!
today was a little quiet at the restaurant,
so father and son decided to take the dogs out for a walk at a nature park/reserve/woods area(don't know the exact words to discribe it, so i used those) and guess who tagged along?
It's quite a huge open forest area, Lots of good scenary
we played with the Dogs, and of course father and son had a time spent together
We got back at about 6.30, to pick up mum, and leave the dogs at home, than off to the student town utrecht!! Tons of universities there! and it's the place both peter and grace met(parents of sander)!
on our way there, i caught this beautiful cluster of clouds
while the car is moving of course! it's just one of those lucky car pictures that doesn't get distorted.
ok ON TO UTRECHT!!
Fact: All the houses and buildings featured are at least 300 years old!
this is the home that peter stayed in when he was a student here.
"The Dom" this tower is part of the church building there and the whole church has been around since medival times... damn old eh? a little more history about it later.
The place that peter worked in when he was a culinary student. It's changed hands many a times ever since. now it's some modern youth Cafe/restaurant.
the catherine convent, which has now been converted into a museum. the side and modern entrance.
The canals at utrecht is a little differant from those at amsterdam, cause the ones at utrecht has actual shops and restaurant etc etc at the canals itself. don't know how to explain it, But the picture would do the story telling.
rouleau of fillet of brill with black truffles, potato cream, braised carrots and foam of white wine.
This too was another disappointment, the black truffles i was looking forward to didn't appear untill i see it within the roulade of fish, after half of it was eaten.that's damn sad, and expecting the smell of the spring truffles, geez. NON AT ALL!!!even china truffles smell more pungent than these pussy ones. potato cream was as hard as a french fry only without the crispy outside. And the sauce(foam of white wine) Arrives halfway through our dish. when i poured it, there wasn't much foam just liquid damn sad man....
Waiting another half hour for this dish, you'd expect it to be really nice and Hot, but it was only just warm, and we're so hungry that we've got no choice but to devour everything. putting my taste buds aside, just to feed the hungry tummy
this wasn't too bad just cause it looks a little pretty(sorbet looks like a flying white duck), though they should try not to let both rubarb pie and compote taste the same(maybe the cooks are friggin lazy) rosehip sorbet was too creamy, But the flavour of the rosehip was there. Everything for this dish was a little on the sour side.
at the end of the meal sander told the waiter i'm a cook/chef from singapore and wanted a menu. waiter asked how the dinner was, i just said ok. didn't want to tell him that food was terrible, But i complimented on the room and design. that's about it. So good and bad cancels each other out.
.............................Hmmm lemme rephrase it. There was more bad to the experience than good.
at the end of it, we took a walk across a park to the car, drunk university kids, chicks and boys all over the place. Me being the only chinese in the vicinity they kept screaming "NI HAO! ARIGATO! SAWADICAP!" to me i just didn't bother to reply.
so that was the end of another fruitful day, we got back home and made lots of night snacks to fill ourselves up than it's off to bed!

Huge wheels!! Wonder if it'll hold up if i use it for the bicycle?THE CHEESE GUYS!

It's quite a huge open forest area, Lots of good scenary
, perfect for photo taking!
we played with the Dogs, and of course father and son had a time spent together
, whilst i just played with the dogs, they're CRAZY I TELL YOU!
Thereafter we headed to just across the road to an airstrip for a coupl of beers. there was a pretty tall and hot bodied waitress with a really nice asstoo bad the camera didn't bring out her best ASS-et(geddit?!hahaha)

A bomb of a car.
the catherine convent, which has now been converted into a museum. the side and modern entrance.
Now the proper entrance of the museum

ok back to the old medieval church. It once held a really big area, Untill a fire broke out about 200 hundred years ago, which seperated the main building from the tower. "The Dom". and in place is actually a square, an open area, now lined with trees

and a statue
this is really unique, But not surprising
the name actually means peter's cemetary. Not the cemetary of a person peter, But it's just the name of the graveyard. Now it's no longer there, In place are homes(Hmmm wonder if those students that come home late at night after drinking or smoking up considered Zombies)Final stop in Utrecht, Polman's Restaurant.
It was a restaurant that peter helped to set up about 30 years ago. Nice interior design, Classic and old french style.food list was really small, But the wine list was huge.
i had a ballotine of bresse chicken with peaches, pomodori and pesto.

Nothing exciting at all. the only sense of pesto is the deep fried basil with a very strong smell of oil. the peaches and pomodori(salsa) was a tad too sweet. Best part of it all, it took a F*cking 1 hour for them to serve this, and there's not more than 20 people in the restauranti had a ballotine of bresse chicken with peaches, pomodori and pesto.
